Secure Access to Electronic Health Records with Martin's Point Healthcare

CBE Technologies work with Martin's Point Health Care to implement secure access to electronic health records (EHR).

As industry regulations demand patient privacy and secure access by health care providers, Martin’s Point was looking for a way to beef up information security, while speeding access to information critical for patient care by the doctors and staff that need it.

CBE Technologies provided design and systems integration for secure managed access to medical records in a way that meets the security and patient privacy guidelines and regulations of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) and DITSCAP (U.S. Department of Defense Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process).

CBE worked with Martin’s Point to integrate password management, patient information applications, and centralized management technologies. Citrix Password Manager software technology authenticates authorized EHR system users granting appropriate network and health record access and lowering application management and support costs. CBE will implement and support these technologies at Martin’s Point clinics.

Martin’s Point began using the EHR system in October, with completion of a system-wide rollout to its three clinics in Portland, Brunswick, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire by May 2006.
